PRESIDENT’S LETTER

A Message from the Hingham Education Foundation President

Thank you for your interest in the Hingham Education Foundation.

For over 27 years Hingham businesses and residents have generously donated to HEF, providing much-needed funds to support the Hingham Public Schools. Since its inception in 1992, HEF has awarded over $1.5 million to fund grants in our schools. Over the years these grants have covered a wide range of needs and topics: support for the HHS Robotics team, seed money for the Global Citizenship Program, installing and updating weather stations, iPads and Chromebooks, stereo microscopes and digital projecting microscopes, supplemental teacher trainings, mural projects, art exhibits, and various playground enhancements, to name a few.

HEF is champion of innovation and creativity, aimed at reaching every student.

Last year HEF launched its CodeRed campaign, working with the Hingham Public School Administration to make full computer science immersion a reality for grades K-12. In its initial year, HEF funding provided the materials to implement the new Massachusetts Computer Science Standards in grades K-5. This coming school year, HEF is supporting the professional development of a team of “innovation fellows,” chosen to represent all schools K-12, all grades including specialists, to begin the HPS Administration's ambitious goal of full computer science immersion.

You can learn more about this initiative under the “CodeRed” tab on this website.

HEF is completely reliant of the generosity of the over 2700+ families with students in the Hingham Public Schools, Hingham Alumni and generous local businesses. We are fortunate to live in a community where people are so giving of their time and financial support and hope to have another successful 2019-2020 fundraising year. We are also committed to keeping fundraising fresh and involving as many Hingham residents as possible.

Thank you for your continued support of the Hingham Education Foundation.
