Mini Grant Program Application Guidelines
|
Purpose:
The purpose of the Hingham Education Foundation Mini-grant Program is to provide funding for the Hingham Public Schools to:
- enrich curriculum
- encourage professional growth
- foster school/community relationships
- develop creative programs in new areas
Funds for the Mini-grant Program will be used to enhance public education in Hingham, but not to replace or supplant public funding for the schools.
Eligibility:
Applications are welcome from teachers, school administrators or staff, students, parents, or any interested citizen. Proposals may be submitted by an individual or a small group. Any applicant who is not a faculty member should have his/her application signed by the faculty member who will be responsible for overseeing the implementation of the project. ALL APPLICATIONS MUST BE CO-SIGNED BY THE APPROPRIATE PRINCIPAL. No grant will be funded for the same project for more than two consecutive years. All applications must be typed or written in blue or black ink. Please DO NOT type or write on the back of any pages.
Budget Guidelines:
The maximum grant awarded will be $3,000. A grant budget request may include project-related items such as supplies; equipment, or resource materials; workshop fees; stipends to develop new materials and curricula; guest lecturers; duplicating, postage and computer software. Applications MUST INCLUDE ITEMIZED BUDGETS with as much detail as possible – more is better; do not make assumptions – or complete consideration cannot be given. Mini-grants are not intended to pay for college courses, private projects, or dissertation work.
Timeline:
All completed Mini Grant applications must be received at the Foundation’s office by June 2, 2010. Awards will be announced in Summer 2010. Funding for the 2010– 2011 grant cycle is available July 15, 2010 with expected completion of the project by June 30, 2011.
Review Process:
Applications for funding will be reviewed by a Grant Award Committee, which will present its recommendations to the Board of Trustees for final approval.
Application Procedure:
Mini Technology Grants
If you are applying for a grant to purchase new technology, your grant application must be reviewed and approved by Joe Andrews before it is submitted to HEF. We have created a new “Technology Grant” form specifically for technology requests.
Unlike the other grant forms, we will not be accepting technology grant requests using the online form. Technology grant forms must be submitted to us in hardcopy after Joe has reviewed and signed-off on the request.
We urge you to work closely with Joe from the start to ensure that you have included the appropriate technology configuration and budget. Joe Andrews can be reached at jandrews@hinghamschools.com or at HHS at 781-741-1560, ext. 1081.
The Mini Technology Grant application form is available for you to download in Microsoft Word format.
