“Mathematics and Music
on the Move”

Thank you HEF,
for the laptops for our school!
The teachers think they’re amazing
And the kids all think they’re cool!

To use them for math and music
was certainly our original plan
But I think you’ll be amazed to see
The additional content they’ve allowed us to span.

Each and every fingertip
from Kindergarten through grade 5
Has worked with a piece of music
And heard it come alive!

Children in many classrooms
Have had a chance to play
The Everyday Mathematics Games
that enhance their learning in a technological way!

Other children have delved
into the history of the US
through an Underground
Railroad simulation
and a US regions webquest.

When it’s time to do some research
the laptop cart comes out
From historical women to
current authors
There’s so much information
to find out!

For two Foster Mini-courses
They have made learning
come to life,
From programming Lego robotics
to cartooning in “Comic Life”.

Little did we did we know
 These laptops can also scan
Using “Delicious library”
We streamlined the cataloging plan.

In “Developing Mathematical Ideas”
a popular class for teachers to take
using on-line manipulatives
connections to decimals,
they could make.

We are all so very grateful
For this amazing laptop cart
We extend a great big THANK YOU

Who We Are

The Hingham Education Foundation is a non-profit, community-based organization committed to enriching the quality of public education in Hingham. Since its incorporation in 1992, the HEF has awarded grants to enhance educational quality throughout the system. These grants provided funding for innovative classroom projects, development of teaching strategies, special programs, new books and materials, improving technology and more.

Funds for the HEF's programs are generated through community contributions, and all monies raised are used to extend public funding for the schools. All donations, in-kind contributions, and volunteer hours are gratefully accepted. For further information, please call the Foundation office at (781) 740-8217.

For those of you who have donated to the Hingham Education Foundation in the past, we want to thank you for your generosity. Your contributions help provide educational enrichment opportunities to the students and faculty of the Hingham Public School System. With your generous support, our schools are able to give our children a truly enriched education that goes beyond the general curriculum.

Please consider making a tax-deductible donation to the Hingham Education Foundation. Simply fill out a donation form and return it to the address listed on the form. You will receive an acknowledgement from the Foundation for your tax purposes. If you’d like to help in another way, you may indicate that also.

Red Apple Program

The Hingham Education Foundation's Red Apple Program is a meaningful way for parents and students to show their appreciation to a teacher, administrator, coach or other adult who has played a special role in a student's life.

Through the Red Apple Program, you may honor a teacher or staff member by making a donation to HEF in his/her name. You will send each honoree a "Red Apple" thank you card which acknowledges your gift to HEF in their name. The amount of your donation will be kept confidential. HEF will send you a tax deductable receipt.
